George Michael - True Faith, out March 13th

Heads-up all you George Michael fans - the big guy's releasing a cover of New Order's True Faith in time for this year's Comic Relief appeal. All proceeds from the record - both George's own earnings and New Order's royalties for the use of the track - are due to go to the charity.

UPDATE: True Faith hit iTunes on March 13th as promised. Click the button below to buy it from iTunes, or you can use the Amazon link if you want the physical CD version, released on March 14th.

I'm not sure what angle George will take on this one, but it's bound to be good either way - whether he breaks the usual charity-song mould by keeping the fairly upbeat rhythm, or opts instead to push the sentiment of the lyrics, which could actually prove pretty haunting.

He will ruin it. RUIN IT!! Unless it will actually be very very funny. Hhmmmm the more I think about this the more I think it will actually work.

Do you not think he's going to do a Glee-style mash-up with his original song, "Faith"??

I. Am. A. Genius! Gotta go... Lenny is on the phone...

Don't you mean a Wagner-style mash-up? Could be good either way...!

I actually quite like some of GM's music so I'm willing to give it a chance, hopefully he at least does SOMETHING to it and doesn't just directly rehash the original.

Well, I for one can't wait. As a chick who loves New Order and George Michael, I think it's gonna be fab! ;_

Good point - I hadn't really thought much about the New Order angle on things. Looking at it as a combination of the two (GM + NO), it definitely ought to be pretty decent!

George Michael and Nickie O'Hara - yes - that's a fab combination!

Hah, less 'New Order', more like 'New World Order'... not sure the planet could handle that one, Nickie!
